So one of the things I like to do when traveling is walk. Walk and explore with a camera to record the walk. Why? you might ask. Well, I like to pull up walking videos on Youtube of other cities, especially if I am planing to travel there. What do the streets look like? What are the neighborhoods like?, Are there barking dogs?, (Of course there are).
So in an effort to take recording my walks to the next level I purchased this dji Pocket 2 Handheld camera.
Now I’m a low-profile type of guy. Don’t like to attract attention or stick a camera in peoples faces. The dji Pocket 2, because of it’s compact size is almost unnoticeable when walking. I can hold it up in front of my chest or drop my arm by my side to record while walking naturally. There is still some up-and-down motion from my walking. I’m working on smoothing that out. However the 3-axis gimbal stabilizer will always keep focusing on the same spot ahead (if you set it to do so).
Using the small joystick to control, I can zoom in or out, or pan left to right or up and down.
This camera is great for vlogging, travel videos. It’s compact size makes it convenient and it fits with case in most any bag.
Here are some highlights gleaned from an AI generated document.
Design and Build Quality
- Compact and Portable: The DJI Pocket 2 maintains a very small footprint, making it easy to carry in a pocket or small bag. Its ergonomic design allows for comfortable handling.
- Build Quality: The device is solidly built, with a robust construction that feels durable. The gimbal and camera are well-protected, which is crucial for a device intended for outdoor use.
Camera and Gimbal
- Camera Specs: The Pocket 2 features a 1/1.7-inch sensor, which is larger than its predecessor, providing improved image quality. It can capture 64MP photos and 4K video at 60fps.
- Gimbal Stabilization: The 3-axis gimbal provides excellent stabilization, ensuring smooth footage even during movement. This is particularly useful for vlogging, travel videos, and action shots.
- Lens: It has a 20mm f/1.8 lens, offering a wide field of view and good performance in low light conditions.
There’s much more information out there of course that I’m not including here.
It takes some time to work through the settings and the screen is almost too small to be of much use. But one can plug it into an iPhone to see the picture on a larger screen. The gimbal stabilizer insures smooth motion.
I’ll continue to work with my dji Pocket 2 for a few months but may trade up to the Pocket 3 when budgeting allows. The Pocket 3 has a larger screen. Check it out.
