So I did it! I purchased this Dutchmen Kodiak 227BH. It was awhile back, early 2022, and we’ve only used it a few times but so far it’s a game-changer for us. We enjoy going to music and art festivals and traveling but completely burned out on setting up tents and the inconveniences of it. Especially when one is a bit “older” and has a partner who likes some comfort, as do I.
It’s lite, comfortable, all-weather, and has many features.
I had been thinking about it for a couple of years. Then, my girlfriend and partner got the idea and started searching along with me. We ended up with this one. The KODIAK 227BH. (BH stands for bunk house). It’s part of their “ULTRA-LITE” line. We chose it because of it’s light weight, since we’re towing with a RAM 1500 eco-diesel, half-ton pick-up. The 227BH does NOT have a slide-out. We chose this on purpose to save weight and eliminate the possibility of a broken slide-out. Though I understand that they are quite reliable.
The 227BH is no longer on offered on their website as of this writing, but we can attest to the comfort and usability of the unit. Also, because we didn’t need the bunks, we re-designed and built out this walk-in closet to take their place. Works like a charm.
